Tim Speciale
I plan the marketing and write the code, for B2B teams and for businesses in East Tennessee.
Eight years in digital media
I started in 2011 at BWW Media Group in Chicago as an editor, then became its lead digital marketing strategist, then ran its technology and business operations. That’s where I learned how a website earns money when traffic is the whole business.
Six years inside SaaS
In 2019 I joined JumpCloud in Denver as a web developer and left in 2025 as Director of Website. The job covered site speed, search, conversion, tracking and the development backlog, plus the question a CMO asks every month: what did the website do for pipeline?
Why I chose Main Street
In September 2025 I started Better Off Growth in Maryville, Tennessee. The businesses around me were paying for websites and getting brochures: slow pages, no tracking, and nobody watching what happened after launch. The systems I’d run inside SaaS were what they were missing.
So I built BOG the way a SaaS company is built: a monthly subscription, nothing upfront, a client dashboard I wrote myself, and a business that only grows if clients stay. Choosing Main Street was a business decision.
What each side teaches the other
Small budgets are a hard test. When a landscaping company’s whole marketing budget is a few hundred dollars a month, every change has to show up as calls or form fills, and the dashboard shows whether it did. The B2B work runs the other way: bigger sites, more tags, more people to convince. Methods move in both directions.
How I work
- I measure before I recommend, on real visitors’ data from Chrome as well as lab scores.
- I write the code myself: Astro, Next.js, Supabase, WordPress, Shopify themes.
- I build the tools as well as the plans: a field reporting app for EV charger installers and the dashboard every BOG client logs into.
- You get a plain-English readout every month: what changed, what it did, what’s next.
- One person on your account, and it’s me.
Away from work
I’m a former Category 1 bike racer, and I’ve taken photos since I shot for The Daily Iowan. Some of them live at photos.timspeciale.com.
